OWNING A BUSINESS IS
MORE THAN JUST EARNING PROFITS. IT'S ABOUT BELONGING TO A COMMUNITY AND
GIVING BACK TO THE AREA WHERE YOU LIVE AND WORK. |

| PEMCO PLEDGES $50K TO THE PEMBROKE
GENERAL HOSPITAL BUILDING FUND – JANUARY 11, 2003 |
| The Pembroke General Hospital
Building Fund got a boost from Pemco Inc., with it's pledge of $50,000.
The money, to be paid over the next 5 years, helped the fund top $4.075
million, more than halfway to the goal of $8.0 million. |
| “We’re very pleased
to be able to make a contribution to this project, which will have great
benefits for the community at large” said Jeff Eisen, President & CEO
Pemco Inc. He added that Pemco has always been a good corporate citizen,
doing its part to give back to the community in many ways, mainly through
the support of local charities and community fundraisers. |
| “Our company has much history
in the Pembroke area and we are very grateful to those in the community
who have supported us over the years.” Mr. Eisen said. “This
is our way of giving back to those that have helped make our business what
it is today.” |
| PEMCO INC. GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
THROUGH THE UNITED WAY! |
| Pemco is a committed supporter
of the United Way. With a structured program where employees donate money
each week through payroll deduction, the company then matches each dollar
donated by the employees. At the end of the year, a formal presentation
of the total donation is made to a representative to the United Way. |
| The Food Bank is another organization that Pemco
Inc. avidly supports. Each year during the annual Christmas party, in early
December, employees donate food items for the less fortunate. |
| PEMCO has also donated to organizations
that employees are actively involved in locally. Some examples include: |
Cancer Society
Ducks Unlimited
Terry Fox Run
Heart and Stroke Foundation
Easter Seals |
| PEMBROKE'S MILLENNIUM PROJECT - THE WATERFRONT
OF THE FUTURE |
| Pemco Inc. was very excited to be a part of
the Waterfront 2000 project in Pembroke. This was the largest volunteer
undertaking in the city, and consisted of two different components: |
| A boardwalk that spans across the waterfront
and contains 2000 boards to go with the millennium theme |
| 4 pavilions that are 24
feet in length, containing several benches and featuring a pictorial history
of the area including
highlights from the lumbering days and historic events like Pembroke's "Great
Fire" |
| Fred Blackstein, volunteer chair
of the project, commented that Pemco was a very different sponsor because
Jeff Eisen, President
of Pemco Inc., contacted him to offer assistance. "Normally in projects
of this nature, it's the volunteers reaching out to the community for support,
which is why I was surprised when I received a phone call from Jeff Eisen.
Pemco Inc. was the first corporate sponsor, and because of their participation,
other corporate sponsors were encouraged to join the project. In essence,
Jeff got the ball rolling," Mr. Blackstein said. In total, Pemco Inc.
donated over $10,000.00 and countless hours in fabricating components. |
| PEMCO INC. IS A MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY! |
| Pemco is a proud member of the community and
so are many of its employees. Many employees have been in the community
for years and have shown support through memberships that benefit everyone
who lives here. |
| Pemco has been a long time member of the Pembroke
and Area Chamber of Commerce. Jeff Eisen, President of Pemco, participated
in the chamber by serving as Director. |
| Pemco staff continues to support several community
clubs and organizations including: |
Rotary Club
Girl Guides
Pembroke Skating Club
Boys and Girls Club
City of Pembroke Planning Board
City of Pembroke Economic Development Advisory Board
Co-founder of the Children's Garden Nursery School
School Council
Red Cross
Coaching for pee wee softball
|
| Many employees are involved in other community
activities including sports like softball, hockey, ringette, basketball,
curling, darts... just to name a few. |
